ABIR@25: Top executives to discuss insurance industry past, present & future at 25th-anniversary leadership forum
Hamilton, Bermuda, June 5, 2018—An impressive who’s who of Bermuda’s global insurance market will discuss the state of the industry and major trends affecting risk management at a leadership forum marking the 25th anniversary of the Association of Bermuda Insurers & Reinsurers (ABIR).
The event, scheduled July 10 at Rosewood Bermuda, will see high-profile executives past and present participate in an afternoon of panel debates focused around big themes impacting the industry.

The event’s first panel discussion is titled, “Bermuda’s Risk Management Leadership—what the Future Holds.” Moderated by Mark Geoghegan, Managing Director of Insurance Insider, it features as panelists: Pina Albo, CEO, Hamilton Re; Albert Benchimol, President and CEO, Axis Capital; Jeremy Cox, CEO, Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA); Marc Grandisson, President and CEO, Arch Capital; and ABIR Chair O’Donnell.
Panel Two focuses on “Lessons Learned from the Past,” moderated by independent director Caroline Foulger, former chair of the Bermuda Business Development Agency (BDA). Panelists are: Michael Butt, former CEO of UK and Bermuda insurers, and Chair, Axis Capital; Stephen Catlin, founder of Catlin, and Chair of the Insurance Development Forum (IDF); Dinos Iordanou, former CEO of US and Bermuda insurers, and Chair of Arch Capital; Don Kramer, serial reinsurer founder and current Chair of ILS Capital Management; Fiona Luck, career insurance executive and Director of the Lloyds Franchise Board; and Brian O’Hara, a career reinsurance underwriter, and the founding CEO of XL Group.
The day’s third and final panel, “Catastrophe Risk Management Leadership,” features as moderator Steve Weinstein, Senior Vice President and Group General Counsel of RenaissanceRe Holdings. Panelists are: Bryon Ehrhardt, Global Head of Growth and Strategic Development, Aon; Kathleen Faries, Head of Bermuda, Tokio Millennium Re; Mark Guishard, Director of Corporate and Community Relations, Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS); Lara Mowery, Managing Director and Global Manger Property Special Risk, Guy Carpenter; and Representative David Santiago, Vice Chair, Florida House of Representatives, Insurance and Banking Subcommittee.

The anniversary event, running 2:30–7:30pm, will conclude with a reception.
